Members of the TA Saints Girls’ Hockey Team are back home with gold medals. They went 4-1 this weekend in their first tournament of the year in Winnipeg, beating Fort Frances in the finals. Addyson Greer was named tournament MVP.

The Kenora Under 18 AAA Thistles split their weekend against Interlake falling 4-1 on Saturday before winning a 10-6 affair on Sunday.

On Sunday, both Nikolas Fagnili and Landon Lowes each earned the hat trick with 3 goals and 2 assists. Lowes says the teams needed to slow down in their second game.

“Had a tough start, but we came back and we came out flying in the second and had a good period. We just kind of calmed down out there, took a couple of breaths, and we were successful.”

The Thistles are now 10th in the Manitoba U18 ‘AAA’ Hockey League standings with a record of 4-8-0-1.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs are coming off a couple of wins at home over the weekend. They played host to the Fort Frances Lakers where they took the game on Friday 8-4, and then 7-2 on Saturday.

The Sioux Lookout Bombers were also successful in their back-to-back games over the Kam River Fighting Walleye, winning 4-1 on Friday and 7-2 on Saturday.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Sr. Boys Volleyball Team travelled to Dryden this weekend for a volleyball tournament. They finished 8 – 0, defeating Beaver Brae, Dryden, St Ignatius, Hammarskjold, St. Pat’s, and Eenchokay Birchstick to win the 2022 Eagles Tournament.

The Toronto Raptors return to action tonight playing host to the 4-and-2 Atlanta Hawks at Scotiabank Arena. The 3-and-3 Raptors had two days off after a rough 112-90 home loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.

And there are only three games on the NHL's Halloween schedule. The Capitals are up against the Hurricanes and the Red Wings take on the Sabres at 6. At 7, the Kings take on the Blues.
