In SIJHL action, the Dryden GM Ice Dogs are on the road to face off against the Bombers for the first time since Sioux Lookout launched the team.
Both the Dogs and Bombers are coming off strong wins, 7-2 each. Ice Dogs sit 2nd in the league at 8-3-0 for 16 points, while the Bombers sit third with 7-4-0. This is the Dog's only game this weekend, but the Bombers will be on the road themselves tomorrow to take on the Kam River Fighting Walleye.
The Under 18 Kenora AAA Thistles have a couple on the ice this weekend. They'll host the Winnipeg Bruins at the Rec Centre tonight at 7:30. Then will be off to Winnipeg tomorrow to take on the Thrashers.
The Toronto Raptors finish off a two-game Texas road swing when they visit the Dallas Mavericks in NBA action tonight.
The Raptors are coming off a 143-100 dismantling of the Spurs in San Antonio on Wednesday that improved their record to 5-and-3. The Mavericks have won their last two at home.
Kyle Connor scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Montreal Canadiens at home. Pierre-Luc Dubois and Blake Wheeler scored the other two goals for the Jets.
It's a light night in the NHL with just two games on the schedule. The defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche looks to end a two-game skid when they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in Finland. Later, the Carolina Hurricanes host the Buffalo Sabres.
The Ottawa Senators are on the market. The board of directors of Senators Sports and Entertainment says a process has been initiated for the sale of the club.
The group says the team must remain in Ottawa as a condition of the sale. Senators owner Eugene Melnyk died on March 28 at age 62 after battling an illness. Canadian actor and football club owner, Ryan Reynolds, has expressed some interest.
