Staff with the Northwestern Health Unit have declared the influenza outbreak at Kenora’s Pinecrest over, and visitor restrictions are returning to normal for residents in Unit #3.
The influenza outbreak was first reported on November 8 with 4 residents affected. Pinecrest residents were quickly given antiviral medications and received their flu shots to help fight the illness. This all came as the home was also fighting a COVID-19 outbreak in another unit, which has also ended.
All visitors are reminded that if you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with someone who is unwell, please refrain from visiting the home.
The NWHU reminds residents that influenza vaccines are available. Get vaccinated by contacting your local pharmacy or health care provider, or by making an appointment using the health unit’s vaccine booking system.
