Your local broadcasters are thanking you for all of your support.
Each year, Q104, KenoraOnline and DrydenNow ask northwestern Ontario for its continued generosity as we collect as many donations of new, unwrapped toys and cash as we can to support women’s shelters in Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Lookout with Toys and Toonies.
And once again, our communities have really stepped up to the plate.
At Valleyview Public School, Ms. Toth’s Grade 5/6 Class put together and sold $2 candy bags and raised over $1,900 to women’s shelters in northwestern Ontario!
At St. Thomas Aquinas, Co-op Teacher Lauren Penner explains that both staff and students were able to join in and support the region. Teachers held a Secret Santa where they picked out toys for each other, but all of the toys were later donated to the cause.
Penner adds that TA’s Leadership class also created and ran a hot chocolate bar to raise funds for Toys and Toonies, with donations made by fellow students and the school’s staff members.
Cash and toy donations can still be made at Tracy’s No Frills in Kenora until December 24, as well as all of our local partners:
