The Kenora Rotary Club’s Splash Park and the City of Kenora's Norman Park will both be seeing a few new pieces of equipment thanks to a donation from Rotary members.
Rotarian Jon Dahl explains that Rotary’s donation of $12,353 will be used to purchase new picnic tables, benches and garbage cans at the Rotary Splash Park and the new accessible playground area at Norman Park.
Kenora Mayor Andrew Poirier joined Rotarians, city staff, councillors and local children for Rotary’s announcement earlier this week.
Dahl explains that the $12,000 donation is the final donation of the $630,000 raised by Rotary, local donations and fundraisers, with $150,000 from Ontario’s Trillium Foundation.
The Splash Park opened in Norman Park in 2019.
The City of Kenora’s planned work at Norman Park includes retrofitting or replacing the existing playground into a custom-designed and accessible space, as well as creating a natural playground behind the area.
