Tristan David Troy Wildfong
May 30, 1995-December 13, 2022
It is with overwhelming sadness and heart break that we announce the passing of Tristan David Troy Wildfong born May 30th,1995 in Kenora ON, our son, grandson, great grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend who will leave an unreplaceable void in our lives.
Tristan is survived by his parents Christine and Jerry Derouard and his dad Jayson Wildfong. He will be deeply missed by the lights of his life; his sister Seanna and his brother Tucker, as well as his furry smoking buddy Benny. A piece of their heart will always be with Tristan.
Tristan leaves behind his Great Grandma Anne Wildfong (Granny) whom he so fondly cherished throughout his life. His Great Grandmothers Marilyn Blanchette (GB) and patricia Beaucage, Grandparents Mike and Val Derouard, (Grumps) Randy Creed and Donna Wildfong.
Tristan adored and valued all of his family including his Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; Melanie Kolisnik (Jayson, Jaxyn), Lindsay Kolisnik, Chris and Jen Carlson (Charlie, Maggie and Boo Boo), Tanice and Alan Wilcox (Rio, Beena and Madison), Mike and Lisa Derouard (Katlynn and Jaylynn), Crystal (Aunty Kitty) Wildfong (Emma and Kaylee) as well as numerous extended family members.
Tristan loved life. He was fearless. He was outgoing and up for all adventure’s life presented to him. His heart held space for everyone, his smile was infectious, he greeted everyone with handshakes, or hugs for whomever he encountered. Tristan saw the beauty in any situation and would always find a way to create witty humor or loving positives throughout all his experiences.
He would always be there to lend a hand no matter what the task, but only if it was not his list of chores. So many days and nights were spent out on Black Sturgeon Lake, he enjoyed fishing, days on the pontoon, taking the seadoo for a rip, listening to music and his all-time favorite curling up on the couch in the basement and binge-watching Netflix.
Connections to family were an ongoing theme and of great importance for Tristan which included going across the lake to the garage for a couple “big boys”, spending days hanging out with Grammie and playing video games with his bro.
Tristan would always try to out pun his mom, they would have “pun off’s”…but he would never quite catch the master.
Surrounding Tristan with open arms and love will be his Good Ol’ Pops (Don Wildfong), and Great Grandparents; Steve and Irene Kolisnik, Henry and Ella Derouard, William (Bill) Creed, and Mary Zroback (Baba). Grandparents Dave and Linda Kolisnik, Heddy Lund, uncles Darryl Philipchuk, Steve Tetreault, and best of friends Cayla, and Chris as well as his special friend Annette.
A loss that could never be replaced and now reunited, he is with his ‘Logie Bear’ (Logan Philipchuk).
Tristan was passionate about many things, and a topic that held great importance to him was advocacy for changes to drug policy and for them to reflect more compassionate and humane practices. He was well loved by all service providers because of his warm hearted, curious, and brilliant personality. Such a loss will be felt by health and social services, as Tristan wanted to see better, not only for himself but for his ‘community family’ who continue to struggle with addictions.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Centre with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating.
A special thank-you goes out to the staff at the MSC Detox Centre; Safe Beds; Del Art Recovery Homes; the OPP crew, Mike Pinheiro, Bob Bernie, and Jason Canfield; the Primary Health Care team; Dr. Grek, Becky Shorrock and Jen Carlson. We thank you for all your care, compassion, dedication and support over the years and for never giving up.
