Ann Elizabeth Fouhse
July 12, 1941 – February 9, 2023
The death of Ann Elizabeth (nee Frerichs) Fouhse of Spalding, SK, occurred peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK. She was 81 years of age. Ann, the fifth child of eight, was born to Theodore and Anne (nee Vossen) Frerichs, on July 12, 1941, at home on the family farm in the Daphne, SK, district. Ann attended Rose Bush Country School. After school, she worked at the train station in Watrous as a cook. She did not like being away from family, so she moved back home and started working as a waitress at Merv Warner’s restaurant in Watson. Soon after that, Ann met the love of her life, Norman Fouhse, at the Saturday Night Dancehall in Spalding in 1963. After a couple of years dating, they were married on June 2, 1965. Ann and Norman enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. From their marriage, four children were born: Mark, Penny, Cathy, and Bea. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend. She enjoyed many things in life, including gardening, baking, crocheting, playing cards, and curling – both as an active participant and as a spectator. However, the most precious thing to her was her family. During the past couple of years, Ann struggled with her health. Throughout it all, she always maintained a positive outlook and never complained. Ann will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Norman Fouhse; their four children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren: Mark (Dana) Fouhse and daughter Taylor; Penny (Cletis) Mamer and children, Garrett (Brittany) and their children Harper and Baker, and Brandan; Cathy (Brad) Heggestad and children, Dawson (Kim), and Carly (Dawson); and Bea (Curt) Tarala and children, Katie and Luke. She is also survived by her brother, Ed (Betty) Frerichs of Watson, SK; sisters-in-law: Joan Frerichs of Naicam, SK, and Lillian Fouhse of Saskatoon, SK; and by many nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Anne (nee Vossen) Frerichs; two sisters: Bernice and Agnes; and by four brothers: George, Ted, Florian, and Paul. The Prayer Service for Ann was held at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Naicam, SK, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Fr. Charles Nweze. The scripture reader was Dawson Heggestad. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Charles Nweze. Active Pallbearers were Garrett Mamer, Brandan Mamer, Dawson Heggestad, Ross Fouhse, Kurt Frerichs, and Bryan Frerichs. Interment followed at St. Martin’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in the Spalding, SK, district. Memorial donation may be directed to Quill Plains Centennial Lodge (PO Box 277, Watson, SK, S0K 4V0).
