Bailey Monteith made 30 saves as the Portage Terriers blanked the Winkler Flyers 3-0 at Stride Place. Malachi Klassen stopped 25 shots in net for the Flyers who were shutout for the first time this season. The Terriers host Selkirk in a special 3:30 p.m. game tomorrow afternoon with a special family skate with the team after the match.

The South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League semifinals are set. The Portage Islanders will face the Ste. Anne Aces and the Warren Mercs meet the Morden Bombers. Reed Peters made 36 saves as Morden defeated the Northstars 4-3 Saturday night in Ile des Chenes. Mike Rey, Jay Fehr, David Victor and Andrew Clark did the goal scoring for the Bombers who swept the best-of-five quarterfinal in three straight. Matthew Osadick, Riley Beauchemin and Brent Wold replied for the Northstars.

The Tiger Hills Hockey League’s round two playoff pairings are set. The Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks will face the Rivers Jets and the Killarney Shamrocks meet the Virden Oil Kings in the West Division semifinals. The Gladstone Lakers take on the Neepawa Farmers and the Wawanesa Jets face the Minnedosa Bombers in the East semifinals. Josh Belcher scored twice and Adam Robidoux chipped in with three assists as Rivers downed the Deloraine Royals 5-3 and swept the best-of-three opening round series in two straight. Reese Jones made 30 saves as Neepawa shaded the MacGregor Wild 4-3 in the deciding third game of their series.


The Morden Thunder have joined the Morris Mavericks in round two of the Zone 4 High School Hockey League playoffs. Acoyen Fehr had a hat trick and Easton Hildebrand stopped all 19 shots he faced as Morden blanked the Carman Cougars 9-0. The Thunder swept the best-of-three quarterfinal in two straight. The PCI Trojans play Mountain in Notre Dame this afternoon. PCI has a 1-0 lead in the best of three series.

Marek Miller scored the tying goal at 15:59 of the third period and Sebastien Hicks potted the winner 3:49 into overtime as the Pembina Valley Hawks shaded the Kenora Thistles 3-2.

The Brandon Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Ice picked up road wins Saturday night. Calder Anderson had a goal and an assist and Carter Bjarnason made 21 saves as the Wheat Kings downed the Swift Current Broncos 3-1. Matthew Savoie and Zack Ostapchuk scored two goals each as the Ice beat the Regina Pats 7-4.
