Three people were apprehended Friday evening in what police are calling a significant methamphetamine seizure.
Around 9:48 p.m., members of the Winkler Police Service, with assistance from the Morden Police Service and the Regional Support Tactical Team, executed a search warrant in the 1700 block of Gemstone Drive. There, police found drug trafficking paraphernalia, two air rifles, and a small amount of methamphetamine.
Additionally, police recovered power tools, personal identification documents, and a motorized scooter, all items they say had been stolen during a recent string of break-ins under investigation in Morden and Winkler.
A few hours later, around 12:58 a.m., members of the Winkler Police Service with assistance from the Morden Police Service, stopped a vehicle on Gemstone Drive in relation to this investigation. The three occupants were taken in to custody. They were found to be in possession of approximately 240 grams of methamphetamine. One of the suspects was also found in possession of break-in instruments.
As a result of this investigation, a 29 year-old woman from Winkler has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000. She was released on a Release Order with an April 25, 2023 court date in Morden.
A 26 year-old man from Winkler has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possession of Break-In Instruments, Identity Fraud, and two counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. He was remanded in custody.
As well, 27-year-old woman from Winnipeg is facing a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking and was released on an Undertaking with a June 27, 2023 court date in Morden.
Additionally, police have obtained an arrest warrant for a fourth suspect, Joshua Corey Delaurier, age 32 of Winkler. He is facing charges of Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order x 3.
