The museum in Pilot Mound is in a new and larger location and board chair Heather Brewster is thrilled to have more space to showcase area artifacts.
The Pilot Mound & District Museum has been a fixture in the community since 1954.
"We used to be in the basement of the library and had 900 square feet to work with and now we're in the Millennium Complex and the library has 2,300 square feet for displays," said Brewster.
The doors will open on March 25 at 2pm for the grand reopening and the board and community members will all be present to celebrate the occasion. "We'll have dignitaries like MP Larry Maguire and MLA Doyle Piwniuk along with local officials and members of the library board at the ribbon cutting."
Visitors are invited to view the many displays, learning about the past while looking to the future.
"With the extra space we have created a walking tour with three theme rooms. There's an 1880’s bedroom, a turn of the century parlour and a kitchen from the 1920's."
Up next is to build a room to hold community archives.
The Pilot Mound & District Museum will be a place to appreciate the hard work of the area's pioneers and indigenous people, and to remember the land and its people in the way it once was.
