Kids and seniors alike teamed up to make some beautiful art in a collaborative project.

This project, hosted by local artist Amanda Milke, features pieces of abstract art that will be featured in the hallways of Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court, the first affordable housing complex in Fort Saskatchewan.

"Heartland Housing had reached out," said Milke. "They really wanted to welcome the new tenants into the building with some community-made art."

Milke hosted the event at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library, where well over 200 people were in attendance.

"It was unreal. There was a solid four hours where they were lined up down the hallway."

The project involved participants using alcohol ink markers and droppers to make mini abstract piecesĀ on synthetic paper.

"The beauty of the project is that every piece turns out so unique," said Milke. "It's an excellent representation of the community.

These pieces will be combined into ten different paintings that will be placed along the hallways of the building.

The seniors who collaborated were from Dr. Turner Lodge, where they have been watching the new complex being built.

"It's wonderful. I always love the opportunity to create with people," said Milke. "I had an 18-month-old participate all the way up to an 88-year-old."

"It's a great way to bring the community together."
