Fans of classic Country music flocked to Gretna's Buhler Hall this past Friday and Saturday evenings for the 10th Classic Country Concert.

"Oh, it was a lot of fun Friday night. There were a few seats left open. Saturday night was kind of a little bit over full and a very great response," said event organizer, James Fehr. "We have so much talent around here, like guys that are very, very good at what they do."

The two evenings featured Ed Wayne, Kayla Elias, John Penner, Mark Fehr, Rockford Penner. Darren Kehler and many others performing hits by classic artists including Johnny Cash, George Jones, Hank Williams and Linda Rondstadt.

Fehr also organizes an equally popular Country Gospel show. Between the two events,  about $20,000 is raised and split between Children of Hope and Love All Ministries

"I think they (people) like the older country sound," replied Fehr when asked why he thinks the shows are so popular. "I started with Bluegrass, and it went over okay, always about three-quarters full, or something like that, and then I came over to the Country-style music...(it) definitely is more liked around our area."

Looking back on the years, Fehr said it's amazing how time goes by. "It's hard to believe it was ten years with the Classic show already. It's well, it feels great, and I really appreciate all the people always showing up, or otherwise I would have had to quit!"

The next Country Gospel and Country Classics shows will take place in February and March of 2024.
