It’s always better to have a plan. That's why the Winkler Services for Seniors, Buhler Active Living Centre and the Manitoba Alzheimer’s Society have joined forces to host a joint Navigating Care Options Expo later this month.

"We've had some residents and their families coming up these increasing care needs and just not sure where to go or how to go about accessing the care they need," explained Stephanie Dueck, Tenant Relations Manager at Buhler Active Living Centre. "So, we thought an event like this would be helpful to get the information out to everyone all at once, give them the opportunity to ask questions and learn about how long it takes to get services and things like that. I wanted to make sure I had a good hold of the information too, as I help residents."

The expo, happening Saturday, April 15th in Winkler, starts off with morning presentations from Home Care, Salem Home and Silver Linings Care. The afternoon will feature information booths from additional organizations to help you in gathering all the information you need as you look to the future.

Cathleen Bergen, Services for Seniors Resource Coordinator at the Winkler Senior Centre, says the event is geared towards individuals, families and professionals.

"So they can start that conversation as to what does the person want for themselves, what's the financial aspect for them? Also, people who work with those seeing an increase in care needs so they can help them communicate what their options may be from their professional standpoint."

Registration is required for the morning presentations. The cost is $10 and includes lunch. It is free to attend the afternoon portion featuring the information booths. Click here for more information.
