The Sherwood Park Knights capped off their season at provincials over the weekend.
The CJHL championship came up just short of a provincial medal, losing 7-3 to the CBHA Rangers. The eventual provincial champions were the Wainwright Bisons.
It was an up-and-down tournament for the Knights. They lost their opener 3-2 to the Rangers but collected a couple of 3-0 and 6-4 wins against Fort St. John and Sylvan Lake respectively.
They lost to the Okotoks Bison 6-3 to give them a 2-3-0 record through the round-robin.
Despite missing out on a medal, Knight's GM Rick Rishaug is proud of how hard his team worked to earn a spot in the provincials.
"I'm proud of how our team performed and how we handled ourselves at provincials," said Rishaug. "We just came up short, and that happens at these tournaments."
"I think we represented the CJHL really well."
The focus will now shift toward next season as the Knights look to repeat as CJHL champions and get another shot at the provincial crown.
"We're already looking toward provincials next year."
