The identity of the Strathcona County RCMP officer that died early Monday (Apr. 10) morning has been revealed.

Mounties confirmed that 32-year-old Constable Harvinder 'Harvey' Singh Dhami died in a vehicle collision while on his way to respond to a noise complaint.

The incident took place at around 2 a.m. at Township Road 540.

"He never shied away from taking calls, and always wanted to learn on the job no matter what the task or risk might be," said RCMP superintendent Dale Kendall. "While he was composed, he had a great sense of humour and was always a team player."

Dhami joined the RCMP in 2019 and was posted to the Strathcona County detachment. He was known amongst his peers as being compassionate, caring, and community oriented.

"Harvey had one of the most positive attitudes. No matter what was thrown his way, he was always ready to do his part," said Kendall. "It's also so important to remember he wasn't just a police officer. He was a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, a colleague, and he was so much more."

"To those who knew him, please share your stories with one another and anyone who wants to listen."
