Work to repair a water line leak in Boissevain got underway Monday morning but it would be mid week at the earliest before a boil water advisory can be lifted.

Town foreman Doug Harper said an aging clamp on a water line on Stephen Street let go and caused the leak. Water samples will be sent to a lab in Winnipeg for testing before the advisory is lifted.

“The rule is that you have to have two consecutive tests pass and that’s one test per day before we can lift the boil water advisory,” said Doug Harper.

“Our first sample will go in Tuesday and then we’ll do another one the next day and we’ll drive them into Winnipeg and get them tested. If any of the test fail we’ll have to keep going until we get two consecutive passes.”

Harper reminds people when they turn their water back on Monday afternoon there will be some hissing because of air in the lines. “If it’s a bit murky just let it run to clear the water up.
