The Edmonton Oilers are making it easier for fans to watch playoff hockey together.
After the success of last year's watch parties in the ICE District Plaza, the club announced that they will be constructing another area for fans to congregate.
The new area will be dubbed the 'Fan Park at ICE District' and will be located right beside Rogers Place, on the site of the old Baccarat Casino. This area will work in tandem with the 'Playoff Plaza' in the ICE District Plaza.
"After reaching capacity in ICE District Plaza on multiple occasions last season, we now have two exciting options for fans to experience playoff home games throughout ICE District and cheer on the team together," said Stuart Ballantyne, President and COO of Rogers Place and ICE District.
Fans will be able to come to either area to watch home playoff games for no charge. Visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable donation.
Both areas will be open two hours before puck drop for home playoff games.
The team says that there will be limited space on game days so the earlier you arrive the better.
When the Oilers are on the road, fans can buy $5 tickets to sit inside Rogers Place while the game is shown on the jumbotron. The net proceeds for these tickets will go directly to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.
The Edmonton Oilers will be opening up their 2023 playoff run against the LA Kings on Monday, puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m.
