The Edmonton Oilers are prepping for a pivotal Game 5 tonight.
Categories

There isn't anything quite like the hours before a pivotal playoff game.

The Edmonton Oilers will be returning to Rogers Place tonight with their first-round series against the LA Kings tied 2-2 for a very important Game 5.

It's been an absolute rollercoaster for the Oil as they are coming off a Game 4 in which they overcame an early 3-0 deficit to eventually win 5-4 in overtime off of a huge goal by Zach Hyman.

An unexpected hero in the game was goaltender Jack Campbell, who came on in relief and held the Kings to just a single goal in the final 40 minutes to allow for an Oilers comeback.

The Oil will be going back to Stuart Skinner between the pipes tonight.

Local bars around Fort Saskatchewan are sure to be showing the game for eager fans.

"We're definitely excited," said Deanne Wiebe, a manager at The Bears Den. "It's been pretty fun in here."

"People are really excited and hopefully the Oilers go all the way!"

If you want to make a trip into the centre of the playoff pandemonium, there will be multiple watch parties in the ICE District in downtown Edmonton.

The ICE District Plaza, otherwise known as the 'Moss Pit' in honour of the late Joey Moss, and the Fan Park beside Rogers Place will both open up at about 5:30 with free admission.

The winner of tonight's game will take a 3-2 series lead and be just a single win from advancing to the second round.

Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
