A 27-year-old man from the R.M. of Stanley has been charged after a homeowner caught him coming out of their garage in Winkler last week.
According to the Winkler Police Service, the homeowner rushed out and found batteries from his cordless tools were missing. He then chased the culprit, who started throwing stones and gravel at him and making death threats. However, the homeowner caught up and was able to get back two batteries. The culprit returned a third battery as police were arriving.
Police have charged him with Break, Enter and Theft, as well as Uttering Threats and Assault with a Weapon (stones). He was released on an undertaking with a July court date.
Meantime, police have no suspects after a vehicle was damaged in Winkler last week.
Around 11 p.m. Saturday evening, witnesses saw people damaging the vehicle, parked at a business near the intersection of 15th Street and Diamond Drive and notified police. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and made aware of the damage.
The file remains under investigation.
