Elizabeth “Betty” Joan Thomas

 

October 30th, 1940 – May 17th, 2023

 

With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mom, Betty Thomas at Saint Boniface Hospital on Wednesday May 17th, 2023.

Left to mourn mom's passing are three daughters Bev (Bill) Roy, Brenda (Loius) Bisson, Toots (Tim) Briggs. Four grandchildren, Ashleigh (Brodie), Troy, Brady (Baillie) and Valerie.

Mom was also fortunate to have four great grandchildren, Brooke, Aidan, Matthew, and Maverick.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Edna Churchill, sisters in law, Meryle Morgan, Evelyn (Dennis) Sherdahl. Brother-in-law, Ralph Thomas, as well as nieces, nephews, and many close friends that held a special spot in her heart.

Mom was pre-deceased by her husband, Clayton, parents, Mel and Beatrice Morgan, sisters Peggy Morgan and Ila Payette and brother Bob Morgan.

Born on October 30th, 1940 mom lived in the Kelvin District until venturing out on her own. Oakville had been home for the last 56 years. In April 2023 mom sold her home and moved to Dalton Grove in Portage la Prairie. Mom fostered many children over the years and remains close to one special young lady.

Mom loved to travel, and was fortunate to enjoy trips to Vegas, Arizona, Palm Springs, Hawaii, Mexico, Paris, many stops in Canada, as well as a riverboat cruise through Germany and an Alaskan cruise.

For the last 10 years mom has enjoyed the summer seasons at Autumnwood resort in Gimli, making new friends that were like her family away from home. Mom loved to socialize whether it be over coffee, happy hour or just over the phone. Mom's biggest joy in life came from spending time with her family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oakville Hall, Oakville MB. A Private Family interment will take place at the Oakville Cemetery, Oakville MB.

If friends so desire, donations in memory of Betty may be made to Cancer Care, or the St. Luke's Anglican Church, 167 3rd St, Oakville MB, R0H 0Y0.
