Fort Saskatchewan's iconic Canada Day celebration will be returning on July 1.
On Tuesday (May 23), the city announced details about the festival, which follows a very successful 2022 celebration.
The day will begin with a free pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Fort Saskatchewan Legion parking lot. The food will be prepared by members of the Fort Sask Fire Department.
This will then lead into the annual Canada Day parade at 11 a.m. which will run through 101st and the downtown core. People lining the procession can expect the parade to last about an hour.
Those who want to join the parade can fill out a form on the city's website.
The bulk of the day will be spent in Legacy Park as the Canada Day festival kicks off with its opening ceremonies at 1 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
There will be an admission cost of $5 that will cover activities at Legacy Park in the afternoon including:
- Caricature artists
- Face painting
- Inflatables
- Monster mural painting
- Petting zoo
While people enjoy those activities, there will also be free afternoon entertainment on the Bandshell Stage including musicians such as Benjamin Williams, Rebecca Lappa, The Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers, and Eric Yaremko.
The evening headliner and supporting artists are set to be announced on Monday (May 29).
River Valley fireworks at the Rotary Amphitheatre in Peter T. Ream Park at 10:45 p.m. will then close the day out.
