UCP candidate Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk has been re-elected as the MLA for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville.
Armstrong-Homeniuk will enter her second term after defeating Taneen Rudyk of the NDP and three other candidates.
"I can't say enough about the great team I have around me," said Armstrong-Homeniuk. "This is a win for Alberta. This is a win for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville."
Armstrong-Homeniuk held about 58 per cent of the popular vote -- Rudyk was second with just over 37 per cent.
As she prepares for her second term as MLA, Armstrong-Homeniuk looks forward to reassessing the needs of the region.
"First of all, I need one night's sleep," she laughed. "I'm looking at carrying forth some of the initiatives that I had [in my first term] in different municipalities and different communities."
During her first term, Armstrong-Homeniuk served on the advisory council on Alberta-Ukraine relations before being appointed as the parliamentary secretary for the Ukrainian refugee settlement in October.
All election results are unofficial until June 8.
