Morinville taxpayers were hit with a nasty surprise last week.
Upon opening up their annual tax notices, many were greeted with the wrong amount, sparking confusion and anger.
"The incorrect bills have created significant (undue) stress to many of our residents," wrote one concerned resident on Facebook.
The town has said that the incorrect notices that were mailed out were the result of a system-generated error.
"At this time, we are unsure how many notices were affected," wrote the town in a release. "Staff are working to reprint and reissue all tax notices."
"Please accept our apology for this error and inconvenience."
Residents are asked to ignore their initial notices and to await the revised notices, which will be printed on blue paper.
