After just a week of fire restrictions, Strathcona County has moved back to a fire ban.
Categories

Strathcona County has declared a fire ban just a week after removing it.

With a fire breaking out in a rural area of the county, and a heat warning released by Environment Canada, the county has decided to reissue the ban effective today.

No outdoor fires are permitted until further notice. This includes burning barrels, fireworks, recreational fire pits, and charcoal barbecues.

The use of propane appliances, such as barbecues, is still allowed.

The county had originally issued a fire ban on May 1 due to dry, hot, and windy weather. This first ban lasted until May 31.

Those disobeying the fire ban may be fined up to $2,000 on top of being put on the hook for the response cost.
