A 23-year-old driver appeared in Winnipeg court Monday after an incident in Morden on Saturday evening.
Shortly after 9 p.m., police were notified of a possible impaired driver doing donuts in the parking lot of a local business. A second call reported the same vehicle speeding down Wilcocks Road.
Police ran a check on the vehicle and turns out, it had been reported stolen.
Shortly after, officers found the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but say the driver failed to stop and was recklessly speeding and failing to stop at stop signs. In the interest of public safety, police stopped the pursuit.
Not long after, the vehicle was spotted stopped on the side of the road with the driver outside of it. He ran from police, but officers pursued on foot and arrested him.
The driver was charged with Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
He was remanded into custody.
