Are dogs and other kinds of pets allowed at the Fort Saskatchewan Farmers' Market?
According to Karen Collins with the Fort Saskatchewan and Lamont Regional Chamber of Commerce - yes, they are.
"In 2019, the chamber changed its policy. The park is city property. It's a public park, it's public land. It's not in an enclosed arena, like other farmers' markets," said Collins.
However, all dogs and other pets must be on a leash and can't approach any food vendorĀ unless given permission by the vendor themselves.
Before dogs were allowed, there was confusion amongst organizers as to the legalities of having dogs at the market.
"At that time, the market felt that dogs shouldn't be allowed there, but after discussions with the city, they are allowed. There are no rules against it."
The farmers' market got started last week and takes place every Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the CN Station parking lot on 101 Street.
