Local artist Amanda Milke is showcasing community through her new collaborative art piece.
The piece is on display at the public parklet on 102 street and features bundles of painted leaves hanging from the roof of the parklet.
Milke said that every leaf was painted by a resident of Fort Saskatchewan at the Family Festival earlier this year.
"I've worked with Kristi Wahl and the City of Fort Saskatchewan before," said Milke. "We usually work with the Youth Advisory Committee and doing projects for the Fort that people can participate in."
"This year they said they wanted to do something hands on, where everyone could participate regardless of age or ability."
The leaves were made with a diffusing paper, which Milke described as similar to coffee filters 'but more artsy'.
In total, around 160 leaves were painted for the art piece.
"We really wanted to focus on community. Like leaves on a tree, each one is different but part of a greater creature," added Milke. "It's the idea that we're coming together to create as individuals, but that we're all connected as a community together."
This is Milke's last commission as she prepares for her summer break.
