The Shell Theatre has revealed its newest slate of shows.
The 2023-2024 season includes a bit of everything, from country music icons and comedy shows to one of Canada's most famous rock bands. It all gets going in September with a special east-coast guest.
"September is a busy month, we are starting a little bit earlier this year," said Josh Gennings with the Shell Theatre. "Born in Ireland, now residing in P.E.I, Irish Mythen has got poignant lyrics, passionate vocals and a cheeky Irish banter that our audience is going to love."
"She's coming in Saturday, September 23."
Less than a week later the theatre will be hosting their first country music event with a evening with Corb Lund on September 27.
"Multiple CCMA and Juno award winner, he's done everything," said Gennings. "He's a rural Albertan that comes from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with a long family lineage right here in Alberta, but he is also an amazing musician."
"We've been working for quite some time to get Corb up here in Fort Saskatchewan and we are excited to bring him in for the community."
October will be jammed pack as well with multiple comedy events, a live Beatles documentary musical, and even a performance of Grease with an indigenous spin to it.
Skipping ahead to early next year the theatre will be hosting the first announced MIX Presents show with a very popular Canadian rock band taking to the stage on January 26.
"The Sheepdogs are a huge act, they are so much fun," said Gennings. "The Sheepdogs revive that soulful sound from yesteryear, that 60s and 70s sound, you know you are going to love them."
Some of the other MIX Present shows in the announced lineup include:
- Martin Kerr Album Release Party - February 2, 2024
- Rare Form Theatre Company presents: "An Unspeakable Triumph of Supreme Brilliance" - February 16-17, 2024
- Brent Butt - February 24, 2024
- Chris Funk, The Wonderist "Redefining Wonder" - March 1, 2024
