Lois Marie Folden
August 19, 1932 – July 14, 2023
The death of Lois Marie (nee Ebert) Folden of Chateau Providence, St. Brieux, SK, (and formerly of Humboldt, SK), occurred at her residence on Friday, July 14, 2023. She was 90 years of age. Lois was born August 19, 1932 to George and Hilda (nee Voelk) Ebert at their home near Annaheim, SK. Lois was raised on a farm and attended school near Annaheim and St. James. In 1950 she married Melvin Folden at Lake Lenore. They farmed in the Daylesford area. Lois and Mel had seven children, four sons and three daughters: Calvin, Linda, Doug, Wayne, Yvonne, Lyle, and Lesa. Lois is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, plus two sisters, Nelda and Maxine. Lois enjoyed taking care of her family and was always very welcoming when visitors arrived. She often prepared large home-cooked meals that were great. Lois was an easy-going person and never complained. In 1983 Lois and Mel moved to Humboldt where they were active members of the community and formed many new friendships, along with maintaining some old ones. They did a lot of travelling; locally, across Canada and around the world to the United States, Mexico, Cuba, Europe, Egypt, Australia, and New Zealand. Lois will be remembered as being very proud and supportive of her entire family. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. John Ezeoruonye. Others taking part were: Derek Doepker, crossbearer; Pam Folden and Ryan Kiedrowski, scripture readers; Cassandra Christenson, intentions; Darrel Doepker and Wayne Altrogge, giftbearers; Lyle Folden, eulogist; and Craig Folden, urnbearer. Music ministry was provided by director Loretta Schugmann, and members of the St. Augustine Parish Choir. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery. The crossbearer was Brent Doepker. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan (#301 – 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1).
