Debora Berscheid
July 13, 1957 – July 18, 2023

Debora was born on July 13, 1957, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and was one of nine children born to Joseph Sr. and Marjorie (née Brockman) Stroeder. She attended St. Augustine School for her elementary years and the Humboldt Collegiate Institute from Grade 8 until Grade 11, both schools being in Humboldt. She then went on to graduate Grade 12 at The Ursuline Academy in Bruno, SK, in the year 1975. On September 11, 1982, she married Roger, at the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, SK and had celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2022. The couple went on to have two precious children, Jason in 1987 and Catherine in 1988. Debora chose to continue her education and became a Special Care Aid. She dedicated 38 years working at St. Mary’s Villa, where she also served on the CUPE and SAHO unions. Ever an active part of the community, she served as a trustee on the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Board of Education from 2006 to 2023 and was a member of the St. Augustine Parish Council. Debora absolutely loved animals, particularly dogs and the family always had at least one dog as a pet, many of which were rescued from bad situations. She was also very gifted with decorating and making floral arrangements. Christmas being her favourite holiday, she took great pride in decorating the whole house and putting as many lights as she could on the Christmas tree. Above all else, Debora loved spending time with her family. Whether it was going for brunch with her immediate family or organizing a gathering of 30 family members, she loved being with them all and in any capacity. Her family meant everything to her. She will be lovingly remembered by: her husband Roger; her children: Jason Berscheid, and Catherine (Brian) Forward; her mother Marjorie Stroeder; her siblings: Wanda (Brian) Shevchuk, Wendy Stroeder, Gary (Kathleen) Stroeder, Jacqueline (Jerry) Nelson, Mary Ellen (Brian) Holyoak, Joseph Jr. (Elizabeth) Stroeder, James (fiance: Kerri Slemp) Stroeder, and Terri-Lynn Stroeder; her nieces and nephews: Nathan, Camille, Krista, Kara, Kristopher, Sarah, Christina, Jessica, Victoria, Rebecca, Lauren, Kristen, and Carly; her brother-in-law Michael Jr. (Mary-ann) Pape; nieces and nephews: Michael Pape III, Alana, James and Tammy; and close family friend Jennifer Schmidt.
