Every year, a summer highlight for CFRY and Country 93.1 was hosting Farmer Appreciation lunch. Over 500 people attended this year in hopes of winning the big prize, a Grain Max 2300 Hopper Bottom Meridian Bin.

Rob Peters, who farms just south of Portage la Prairie, was this year's lucky winner. Peters was excited to receive his prize earlier this month. Peters and his family could not have been happier to see the bin in their yard.

"It's a huge Prize to win. It took a little bit to sink in, but it's a little more surreal now that it's rolling up into the yard."

Peters is hopeful for the rest of the harvest season, mentioning that he can always use more rain, but he isn't too worried about a super late harvest.

"Things are moving along. We had a good catch and a couple of good timely rains. Things are looking not too bad. We only have a couple more weeks to go. So, we will have to wait and see."

Peters says his wheat and oats are a little closer to being done, but his canola and soybeans could use more rain. He added that the bin is a massive prize for his operation and will make a difference in the years to come.

Watch how the bin went from our parking lot to his farm below.
