The death of Josephine Annie (nee Thole) Crone of Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, on Friday, July 28, 2023. She was 88 years of age. Josephine was born to Heinrich “Henry” and Josephine (née Böckmann) Thole on February 10, 1935, at home on the family farm near St. Gregor, SK. During that time, they did move once to another farm in the area. She attended Newnham School (a small country school) until Grade 8. After completing school, she did domestic work around the area for five years before moving to Moose Jaw, SK, to work in the kitchen at Providence Hospital. On August 17, 1957, Josephine married Paul Crone at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church just west of LeRoy, SK. Their first two children, Eileen and Kevin, were born in Moose Jaw, after which, in October of 1962 they moved to the farm near Spalding, SK, and had two more children, Jeffrey and Sandra Lee. While busy raising four children they also farmed grain and raised hogs. In 1983, they moved to Humboldt, SK, with Paul continuing to farm from there. Josephine enjoyed crocheting, reading, curling, camping, fishing, bowling as well as many casino bus trips and travelling. She was lucky enough to go to Germany twice, the Bahamas, California, Las Vegas, Maritimes and Alaska with Paul. After his passing she travelled with family to Mexico, Graceland, Nebraska, Las Vegas and Branson. In September 2015, following a health crisis, she moved to Caleb Village, where she enjoyed attending music and church services, playing bingo, as well as the company of the friends she made there.
