The Manitoba Government is attempting to improve the safety at the site of one of the most tragic events in the province's history.
Seventeen people were killed after a crash on Highway 5 and Highway 1 (Trans Canada) near Carberry on June 15. The collision occurred after a bus of seniors from Dauphin was travelling to a casino near Carberry, when it collided with a semi-truck.
This was not the only crash at this intersection this summer, as a three-vehicle collision took place at the same place on July 31, leaving three people with severe injuries.
On Tuesday, a Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure representative told the media about newly established rumble strips at this intersection.
According to the province, the strips were installed on August 10, after freshly painted driving lines were completed on August 7.
