Doris Legge (nee Friel)
Doris passed away at St Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon on September 17th, 2023, at the age of 98. We cannot say enough good things about her palliative stay, as the staff were beyond reproach in their care of our Aunt Doris.
Aunt Doris was born in August of 1925 in Moose Jaw. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Legge, parents Mabel and Charles Friel and siblings Gertrude Steele, Margaret Anderson, and George Friel.
Upon graduation from Central Collegiate, Doris began her career at Security Lumber in Moose Jaw and then went on to work with Imperial Oil in Regina. She married Bill Legge in 1947 and together they became the managing partners of a farm and a bus line (soon to become Grey Hound).
Aunt Doris was an unassuming person. She was more of a backroom worker than one wanting to be in the limelight. She maintained this persona throughout her life.
After 98 years she had observed, experienced, and learned more about mankind than most. She had strong opinions garnered from those 98 years, which she had no trouble expressing when occasions would arise.
She is survived by her four nieces and two nephews, along with five great nieces and six great nephews and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. She loved us all dearly.
Aunt Doris loved her family, doing crossword puzzles, and she was a fan of Star Trek.
We will all miss our Aunt Doris and will keep her close to our hearts and minds.
Aunt Doris loved her German shepherd, Grim. Therefore if you would like to make a memorial donation please do so on Grim’s behalf to your local animal shelter.
A private family funeral will be held at a later date.
In living memory of Doris, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries). Blake Seebach- Funeral Director
