It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Roselyn “Rose” New at the age of 90, on October 6, 2023.

Rose was born on October 17, 1932, to Dorothy and Alex Zaretsky and was the eldest of four siblings. Strong-willed with an enormous heart full of curiosity. Rose lived a joyful life devoting several years to the farm, alongside her many hobbies.

Rose could often be found meticulously caring for her garden, crocheting beautiful designs, and cooking delicious meals in her kitchen. Rose had a cheeky sense of humor loved by all, and often invited others with a smile to share in her interests. From the flowers in her garden, to crocheted scarves and left-handed mittens for the winter. Rose took great comfort in providing for the ones she loved, always ensuring her visits were filled with love and laughter.

Along with providing for those closest to her, Rose found comfort in the vastness of the prairie landscape. She found solace in the silent hum of the grid roads as she drove in search of the crocus bloom through the snow melt. It was always an exciting day when Rose would report back that the crocuses were here, meaning that spring had officially arrived.

Rose was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Alex; husband Lawerence; son Curtis; sister Shirlee; loving friend Norman; and niece Laura.

Rose has left love and laughter behind for many friends and family including son Ron (Susan) New; granddaughters Shannon, Mindy, Samantha, Piper, and their partners; great granddaughter Presley; brothers Dellas (Vicki) Zaretsky and Darcy (Jodi) Zaretsky as well as many nieces and nephews.

As per her request, Rose’s life will be celebrated with a private ceremony with close family and friends present.

In living memory of Roselyn, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
