The Pink Ladies Snow Ride for the Cure is a biannual event that aims to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. The organizers are now gearing up for the eighth installment of the fundraiser and are looking to build on the $324,000 that has been raised so far.

While the event is still months away, the pink ladies have already started with registration for their Ride for a Cure on February 3. According to committee member Tammy Hammersley, the early bird registration date has passed but people can certainly still register and be a part of the full day of events.

"It's pretty exciting," Hammersley smiled. "For the last couple of rides, we've been donating our money to the Portage District General Hospital Foundation. Our funds are earmarked for breast cancer."

The committee member explains that anyone who registers for the event will receive a Pink Ladies hoodie, lunch in St. Claude on the day of the event, and a ticket to the banquet later that night.

"We generally have between 70 and 80 ladies riding with us, and don't be afraid ladies to register because we also have support riders. Your friends and your family can also join you if you wish."

The all-female-based event will take riders on a trail to St. Claude from Portage la Prairie and back.

"It's through the help of our community sponsors and our local snowmobile club that this event is made possible, and this ride has raised so much money and awareness for breast cancer, we're super excited about it."

Hammersley says, almost everyone has a connection to breast cancer, whether it be a family member, a friend or a personal battle.

Anyone wishing to become a Pink Lady or to be a sponsor, don't hesitate to get in touch with Hammersley at 204-871-0848.

"Together We Fight," notes Hammersley.
