A great crowd turned out for the opening of Stories of Humboldt: Chapter 5 at the Museum.

On Thursday, October 19, about 30 local history lovers gathered at the Humboldt & District Museum for the opening reception for Stories of Humboldt: Chapter 5, the latest installment in the Museum’s exhibit series that explores some of the stories that make our community unique.

So many of the stories that we tell come from our community members - from their own memories, and from the stories that have been passed down in their families, and the Museum is eternally grateful when people choose to share these stories, says a Museum release.

Many of the attendees had family from the Annaheim region, and shared their stories of the memorable Doc Hone, a local veterinarian who was renowned for curing cancer in several of his rural patients.  A lovely family photo was taken of Elizabeth Berting with her children and grandchildren; Elizabeth and her sister, Barbara, came to Humboldt from war-torn Europe to live with their grandfather in the 1950s.

Thank you to everyone who came out to make these stories even richer! Stories of Humboldt: Chapter 5 is on display at the Museum now.
