Harvest operations across the province are starting to wind down.
Dennis Lange, the provincial pulse specialist writes the report and notes limited harvest progress was made last week as a result of the rain.
Lange notes that over 90 per cent of the provincial crop is now in the bin, which is ahead of the 5-year average. The central region is furthest ahead and closing in on 100% with mostly only sunflowers and corn still on some fields.
The canola harvest continues with approximately 94 per cent of acres being harvested provincially. Overall crop condition ranges from fair to mostly good with yields ranging from 20-60 bu/acre.
The Flax harvest is at 54 per cent complete with yields ranging from 20 to 25 bu/acre, while the sunflower harvest is just getting underway with 22 per cent complete and yields running 2600 to 3000 lbs/acre with good quality.
According to the weekly report, soybeans are mostly in the R8 growth stage, with harvest progress at 81 per cent provincially. Yields have been variable and dependent on summer rainfall with yields on the earlier seeded fields coming in at 20 to 30 bu/acre, the later harvested fields are running at 30 to 40 bu/acre.
The dry bean harvest is approximately 98 per cent complete, with yields ranging from 1200 to 2500 lbs/acre.
Lange adds livestock producers are seeing a fair water supply right now with dugouts at 60% capacity.
The forecast this week includes more rain and possibly some snow.
