Many Hands Resource Centre in Morden received a $10,000 donation earlier this week.

Executive Director, Mariyam Tsygankova says the funds from the Morden Thrift Store will be a great help to their non-profit organization.

Unfortunately, with the cost of groceries and the number of people they're helping each week on the rise, Tsygankova says they could find themselves in desperate need of monetary donations within a couple of months to help purchase necessities.

"Winter is coming, and in the winter, usually we need a little bit more help than in harvest season because the people of Morden are very generous and usually, they donate a lot of produce from their gardens. She notes they're spending a lot more on items like milk and eggs. Because they're not getting meat from the Shrink Program right now, they are also in need of meat.

Tsygankova says it's their goal to always provide clients with nutritious food options, but when winter comes, they do struggle more to provide those things. "So, with this money, we will be able to buy fruits and vegetables in the winter season. Thank you so much for that."

Between 100 and 110 people visit the Many Hands Resource Centre each week, representing about 200 families each month. Tsygankova says last year at this time they were seeing around 90 people per week.
