It's that time of year again - time for the "Singin' in the Grain" concerts that raise money for the Canadian Food Grains Bank.

Organizer Pearl Braun-Dyck tells us that the concerts will be featuring the Steinbach Regional Secondary School Chamber Choir under the direction of Krystal Peters and the Westgate Mennonite Collegiate Concert Choir under the direction of Victor Pankratz.

There will be two concerts. The first will be held at the Douglas Mennonite Church in Winnipeg on Saturday, October 28th at 7 pm. The second concert will be at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 29th.

The concerts are free to attend donations are being accepted to support to the incredible work that Canadian Food Grains bank does around the world.

Braun-Dyck says they are raising money to support efforts to eradicate food insecurity around the world.

All donations from the concerts this year will go to the Mennonite Central Committee account at the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to support their work in countries in East Africa where people continue to experience severe food insecurity.

“We just have to turn on our radios or any other devices and we know the devastation that is happening everywhere,” she says. “So, we, in our own small way, are working towards that. And we have always been incredibly thankful for the musicians, conductors, accompanists, singers, who have given all their time for a weekend to do these concerts for Singin’ in the Grain.”
