Last week, Morden Police received a warrant of arrest for a 20-year-old male for failing to comply with an arrest warrant. The male turned himself in a couple days later, on the strength of the warrant. He was given a promise to appear in Court in January and released.
Thursday, officers were called to an accident at the intersection of Hwy 3 and 1st Street. A vehicle made a left turn in front of another vehicle, causing a collision. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Meantime, officers were also called to a report on an assault at a local business this past week. A woman reported being assaulted by an intoxicated man in a hot tub. A 47-year-old male was arrested for assault and under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. He was released when sober the next morning on an undertaking with a January court date.
A handful of tickets were handed out this past week as well. One for use of a Cellphone or Handheld Device While Operating a Motor Vehicle, garnering the driver a $672 ticket and a license suspension for three days. Three tickets were also given for Driver Not Wearing a Seatbelt, resulting in a $298 fine, and one ticket was given out for Speeding.
