Sask. drivers got 781 tickets for failing to stop/yield last month
Saskatchewan drivers were caught failing to stop or yield at intersections 781 times in January.
This includes not stopping fully at stop signs, not giving right of way at a yield sign, and not stopping at a red light.
SGI’s spotlights for the beginning of the year are focusing on collisions, said Tyler McMurchy, spokesperson with SGI. “Intersections are where nearly half of all collisions take place in Saskatchewan.”
TeleMiracle 48 starts tonight
The 48th Annual Kinsmen and Kinettes TeleMiracle is on this weekend.
The “Countdown to TeleMiracle” will be viewable online here starting at 6:15 p.m. tonight, with the 20-hour telethon running from 9 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Seventy-five acts from across Saskatchewan will be performing for TeleMiracle as viewers “Ring Those Phones”, including Swift Current's Kylie Stock.
Sask. group bringing comfort through handmade blankets
Prairie Blankets for Angels Sask has been making handmade blankets to donate around the province since 2021.
They originally donated the blankets to hospitals for parents grieving pregnancy loss or the passing of a newborn. Now the group donates blankets to a number of organizations in their respective communities, including hospitals, women’s shelters, group homes and victim services, all with the goal of bringing people comfort in their time of need.
Plow-tracking feature on Highway Hotline
Saskatchewan’s Highway Hotline has launched a pilot feature called Track My Plow on their website and app.
When the feature is selected, users can click and hover over a plow to see the route of winter road maintenance that it has undertaken.
Eggs sold in Saskatchewan recalled due to possible Salmonella
Several brands of eggs sold in Saskatchewan have been recalled as a result of potential Salmonella contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued the recall, and there have been no reported illnesses so far.

Price at the pump expected to keep going up
The price at the pump is likely to keep creeping up.
Patrick De Haan, petroleum analyst with GasBuddy, said that refinery issues down south are having an impact. “We have seen some refinery issues down in the US Midwest really impact gasoline supply throughout much of the Midwestern US and southern Prairies in Canada as well.”

SGI urges drivers to pay attention
SGI is reminding Saskatchewan drivers of the dangers of distracted driving.
Distracted driving can contribute to collisions and can result in injuries or deaths. Financial penalties are also substantial if you’re caught driving while distracted, with drivers earning a $580 ticket and four demerit points for a first-time offence.
