Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) members have voted to approve sanctions past the current school year if a collective bargaining agreement is not reached.
Eighty-three per cent of STF members voted on Wednesday and Thursday, with 95 per cent approving the extension of the job sanction mandate for the STF Executive and Teachers’ Bargaining Committee.
The previous job sanction mandate expires on June 30, 2024.
Talks between teachers and the province resumed on Wednesday this week and are ongoing.
If an agreement is not reached, the STF say they will give 48 hours’ notice before enacting job action.
The inclusion of issues surrounding class size and complexity has been a major point of contention in negotiations.
