3rd Street NW to see disruption of water services
The City of Portage la Prairie is reporting that some within the city will be without water services tomorrow, July 28.
This disruption is due to water main repairs and will be taking place from the area of 3rd Street NW from 5th Avenue NW to 6th Avenue NW.
The disruption will begin at 9 a.m, and the city says they intend to have water restored by the end of tomorrow.

Public Utilities Board approves decrease
The Public Utilities Board has approved the application of Centra Gas Manitoba Inc. to decrease the current Primary Gas rate from $0.2055/m3 to $0.1977/m3, effective August 1st.
According to the Utilities Board, the current Primary Gas rate reduction is the result of declines in the North American natural gas market prices.
BREAKING: Portage RCMP asks for public help in locating suspect
The Portage la Prairie RCMP are asking for public assistance with finding a suspect after multiple break and enters occurred last month, on June 25th.
According to the police report, Portage RCMP received two reports of attempted break and enters into residences in the 700 block of St George Avenue.
The RCMP say that officers attended and observed that the suspect broke a window to gain access to these residences and injured himself in the process.
RCMP seeking youth voices
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are looking to hear from more young people as they look to add to their National Youth Advisory Committee.
The RCMP says that Canadian residents aged 13 to 21 can now apply to become a part of the Committee. Applications must be received by September 12th. Those who apply by July 31st will be a part of the first selection round and get a better chance of being selected.
The RCMP notes that this is an online opportunity for youth to unite, have their say and make a difference.
Woman arrested after drinking and driving in Portage
A 24-year-old woman from McCreary has been arrested after drinking and driving in Portage la Prairie.
Portage RCMP says on July 17th, an officer was conducting a traffic stop on 18th Street NW. They asked her to provide a breath sample on a roadside screening device and she failed.
The driver was arrested and while she was at the RCMP detachment she provided breath samples to be analyzed. The results showed that she had over double the legal limit of alcohol allowed to operate a vehicle.
Mckay Ave W sees road closure

The City announced that the road will be open tonight at 7 p.m. However, it will be closed again on Monday, July 25 due to sewer main repairs. They say the intention is to have the work done by the end of that day.

The City of Portage la Prairie is reporting that due to sewer main repairs today, July 22nd, McKay Avenue W from 16th Street NW to 17th Street NW will be closed as of 8 a.m.
RCMP seeking public assistance in locating a stolen Portage vehicle
Portage la Prairie RCMP are actively looking for answers in a search for a stolen vehicle.
According to the police report, on July 14th, Portage RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 900 block of 6th Avenue NE.
The RCMP describes the vehicle as a white 2008 GMC Sierra with the licence plate # KLE 172. The vehicle was reportedly taken around 6:15 that morning.
If anyone has any information about this incident, they are asked to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445.
Morris RCMP arrest, charge two in connection with string of break and enters
Morris RCMP have arrested and charged two people connected to multiple break and enters in the area after executing a search warrant on a home in Morris earlier this month.
The search, according to RCMP, yielded ammunition, a firearm, counterfeit currency, stolen ID and personal documents belonging to other individuals, along with lawn equipment, multiple power tools, over 50 bicycles and a small amount of drugs.
Mosquitoes carrying West Nile found in Manitoba
According to Manitoba Health Culex tarsalis mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus (WNV) were collected last week in the Rural Municipality of Headingley.
This is reportedly the first mosquito pool that has tested positive for the virus in Manitoba this season.
