Portage la Prairie RCMP officer injured in altercation with suspect

A Portage la Prairie RCMP officer had minor injuries following an altercation that transpired with a man last week.

According to the Central Plains Weekly Report, the incident happened on October 19 at 7:31 p.m. when Mounties received a call of a disturbance at an address on Highway 227 in the RM of Portage.

Police arrived and located the suspect, who was advised he was under arrest for mischief. The suspect refused to comply with the officers and struck one officer in the face.

Brandon man arrested in Portage detailed in RCMP Weekly Report

The Central Plains RCMP has released the weekly report for the period between June 24 and June 30. The report covers Portage la Prairie, Treherne, Amaranth and the surrounding Rural Municipalities.

On June 25, just before 10:00 p.m., Portage RCMP were called to an address in the 2300 block of Sissons Drive for an unwanted person. 

Police arrived and located a 30-year-old man from Brandon whom was breaching three counts of his release order and placed under arrest. 

The man was held and appeared in court the following day.
