The Edmonton Oilers are on the brink of elimination as they visit Los Angeles for Game 6 of their series with the Kings tonight.
Edmonton will be without star defenceman Darnell Nurse for the contest as he will be suspended for head-butting Kings forward Phillip Danault late in the second period of the Oilers' 5-4 overtime loss in Game 5. Turns out you can't do that.
Road and highway update - May 12
As of 6:00am Thursday, May 12:
Highway 641, Laclu, is now fully open.
Highway 105 is now open between Ear Falls and Red Lake following a 5-day closure. But, the Highway just north of Vermilion Bay remains closed between highways 17 and 609 and a number of highways and roads remain closed this morning due to significant flooding.
Hwy 17, Vermilion Bay, Near Rhyner's Rd , there is water over the road. Traffic control is in place with a pilot vehicle. A detour is available for smaller vehicles.
Bus Cancellations & Delays - May 12
The following school bus routes will be impacted by flooding and road closures today, according to the Northwestern Sturdent Services Consortium.

Underpass closure this afternoon in Dryden
Dryden drivers are warned about traffic delays near the Underpass today.
The City of Dryden says the King Street Underpass will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., as crews work to complete road maintenance work in the area.
Public Works apologizes for the inconvenience and would like to thank the public for their cooperation during this time. Residents are reminded to always slow down and move over near working crews.
Conservative debate: Poilievre fends off attacks, promises to fire Macklem
Candidates vying for the Conservative leadership framed the country — and the party — as deeply divided at the first official debate on Wednesday, and took turns pointing fingers at one rival they accuse of driving disunity in the race.
The loudest applause in the Edmonton Convention Centre, packed with more than 1,000 people, repeatedly went to longtime MP Pierre Poilievre, who said his vision for the country is about giving people “freedom to take back control of their lives."
Highway 17 open, despite water on roadways
Drivers in the area are asked to use extreme caution on Highway 17, which remains open despite extremely high water levels moving onto the roadway.
The Ministry of Transportation re-opened Highway 17 after water forced a closure between Rhyner’s Road and 83 road late last night. However, Highway 599 remains closed 15 km south of Pickle Lake due to a washout, and Highway 605 Dryden is closed in multiple locations due to water.
Flood Warning in effect for Dryden District
A flood warning has been put into effect for the Dryden District and will remain in place until Friday, May 20.
The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry – Dryden District made the announcement Wednesday morning.
More rain to hit the region starting Wednesday night
Environment Canada is forecasting yet another rain system to sweep through northwestern Ontario beginning on Wednesday evening (May 11, 2022).
They are predicting local rainfall amounts could be anywhere from 25-50 mm over the next two days.
“We are looking at more unsettled weather, more rain, really two rounds of rain,” says Gerald Cheng, Environment Canada Meteorologist. “The first round will come tonight, so starting this evening going into Thursday morning (May 12, 2022).”
“Another round from Thursday evening into Friday morning (May 13, 2022),” adds Cheng.
Brass knuckles charges laid after disturbance in Dryden
A Dryden resident is facing criminal charges, after being in possession of brass knuckles.
On May 7, 2022, at around 11:04 a.m. members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance on Van Horne Avenue within the city.
Once on scene officers located the individuals involved in the disturbance. After further investigation officers found one individual to be in possession of brass knuckles.
The investigation led to the arrest of 37-year-old Devin Bousfield of Dryden, and charged with the following Criminal Offences:
HWY 599 closed south of Pickle Lake
Residents of Pickle Lake have been cut off, as the Ministry of Transportation has reported that Highway 599 is closed due to a washout 15 kilometres south of the community.
There has been no word from the MTO if a detour is in place or an estimated timeline on when the highway will reopen.
Highway 599 follows a number of highways and roadways in the region that have closed as a result of flooding.
