Broncos begin southern road swing in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds

After avoiding their third straight loss on Saturday in La Ronge, the Humboldt Broncos will try and return to their winning ways tonight. 

They will be in Wilcox to meet the Notre Dame Hounds in the first of a two-game southern road trip. 

This season the Broncos haven't lost three games in a row.  

Assistant Coach Carter Hansen said following Saturday’s game that it's important for the team to avoid a prolonged slump. 

Humboldt and Annaheim win silver medals at Provincial Boys Volleyball

Provincial Boys Volleyball Championships were held this past weekend.  

The HCI (Humboldt Collegiate Institute) won the silver medals in the 4A Championships as they fell to Moose Jaw Central in the Gold Medal. HCI was 2-2 after the round robin but defeated Melville and John Paul II (North Battleford) in the playoffs.  

Muyres and Walker lose out in semifinals in Guelph

Kirk Muyres and Laura Walker continued their quest in Curling Mixed Doubles as they competed in the Curling Canada Mixed Doubles Trials Qualifier in Guelph.  

The duo started off on the wrong foot, as they were defeated 8-5 in their first matchup to William Lyburn and Mikaylah Lyburn.  

Following their first loss on Thursday, Muyres/Walker went on a streak, picking up wins in their next five matchups.  

Local Co-ops give back to Humboldt & Lanigan Food Banks

Throughout October, Co-ops in Humboldt, Muenster, Lake Lenore, Watson and Leroy held their fill the semi fundraiser to help the food banks in Humboldt and Lanigan.  

On Friday, the Co-ops made a cheque presentation of $3,000 to the local food banks with the money they generated from the food drive.  

Amy Shepard, the President of the Humboldt Food Bank was overwhelmed with the community support. 

Winter hits Saskatchewan with another knockout blow

Saskatchewan is shoveling itself out of another winter storm to begin the week. 

There are no official snowfall numbers from this weekend’s storm for the Humboldt area, but Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Rose Carlsen reported in the area surrounding Saskatoon, North Battleford and Prince Albert, there was between 20-30 cm of snow this past weekend, which is likely the amount of the Humboldt region received. 

Broncos head north to La Ronge

This weekend will mark the lone trip to La Ronge during the 2024-25 regular season for the Humboldt Broncos as they begin a two-game set against the Ice Wolves on Friday night.  

Coverage on Bolt FM begins at 7:15, with the opening faceoff is 7:30. 

After tonight’s game, the two teams will finish off the back-to-back set on Saturday afternoon. Pregame coverage begins at 2:15, with the opening faceoff at 2:30.
