With the Christmas season just around the corner, the town of Bruno is about to get the holidays underway.
On Tuesday, December 3 the Christmas on Main celebrations will take place.
Committee member Jennie Glessman says the event is Bruno's kickoff for the festive season as local businesses help spruce Pioneer Park.
“Every year we add some new ornaments and decorations, but it really starts the hype of the whole Christmas season for the community of Bruno.”
She added, “It’s fun to watch the streets fill that night with all the families, and all the children, they all come out and we have some hot chocolate, we kickoff Christmas and then we turn on the lights.”
Glessman says part of the Christmas transformation is turning the old Bruno jail into Santa’s workshop.
A big tree is donated to use inside of Pioneer Park, Glessman noted that there is a small tree that has been planted in hopes of one day becoming a centrepiece for the park.
She noted there is a variety of Christmas themed decorations that welcomes residents and visitors to the park.
“We have everything from Santa and Mrs. Claus too snowmen, we have all the little animals, we have a gnome, a mouse, penguins, and they’re all decorated to light up the whole park.”
There are some lights to create a walking trail to a create a path so you can see all the features inside of the winter wonderland.
Since its inception, the Christmas on Main celebrations have grown in Bruno, with 35 businesses now participating in the festivities.
This year’s celebrations will begin at 6:30, with the tree lighting set for 7:00.
