Pastor Jacob Jake Froese, 86, of Winnipeg passed away February 2nd at St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by his wife Diane, 3 sons, and their families. He was predeceased by his first wife Lena.
The Going Home Service for Pastor Jacob Jake Froese will be held Sunday, May 18th at 3pm at Morrow Gospel Church, 755 Ste. Anne’s Road. Private family burial has already taken place.

A grass fire near Oak Hammock Marsh is now under control.
A lightning strike caused a massive blaze to break out late Sunday afternoon just steps away from the popular destination.
"Thank you to everyone who reached out about the fire, offering help. Although it started near the Centre, it did move away," said Oak Hammock Marsh in a post on Facebook. "Big shout-out to all the amazing firefighters out there right now."
City offers water stations during unseasonably high temperatures
The city of Winnipeg is offering ways for people, especially those experiencing homelessness, a way to cool off during the extreme heat to start the week.
There is a heat warning in effect for the city of Winnipeg and southern Manitoba as daytime highs will be in the low to mid-thirties and overnight lows may only drop to 16 degrees, lasting until Wednesday.

Multiple grass fires keep crews busy Monday as Winnipeg fire ban remains in effect
Several grass fires have kept Winnipeg fire crews busy Monday morning.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to three grass fires in different areas of the city, including Whittier Park, the 2900 block of McPhillips Street and the 1100 block of Logan Avenue.
Crews were able to contain and extinguish the fires quickly. However, they are reminding Winnipeggers that a fire ban remains in effect for the city of Winnipeg.

A cross-U.S. sting operation has resulted in over 200 child sex predators being arrested, while roughly 115 children were found and rescued.
Recently, the Department of Justice worked alongside local authorities to work together to identify, track, and arrest child sex predators.
‘Overwhelmed by support’: Steinbach fundraiser brings hope to Tasha Wiese
A fundraiser held at MJ’s Kafe in Steinbach raised $20,000 to support Tasha Wiese, a local daycare worker who lost both hands and her legs above the knees due to severe health complications.
Wiese was hospitalized on March 10 with severe pneumonia, invasive Group A Streptococcus, and septic shock, which led to the amputations.
Rebecca St. James releases new song featuring her daughters
Rebecca St. James has released a new song that is especially close to her heart because it features a couple of extra special guests.
The new track, "You Make Everything Beautiful," features her daughters, 7-year-old Imogen and 11-year-old Gemma.
"Wow, is it a tear-jerker!" said Rebecca in a post on Instagram. "It gets me every time, cause their voices represent the innocence of childhood and the loveliness of family."
"Quite the full circle moment," said Rebecca's brothers, Joel and Luke Smallbone. "We’re proud uncles over here."

I don't know of a hotter subject today than success. Magazine articles, books, seminars, and sermons promote it.
But success is seldom linked with wisdom. Chances are good that if we would pick up last Sunday's paper and read it through, we'd come across 20 or more references to success, yet find nothing added regarding wisdom.
In today's hype about success, wisdom is conspicuous by its absence. Outside of biblical literature and biblically based books, we hardly even come across the Word….
