Romans 14:12

What do we mean by accountability? In the simplest terms, it is answering the hard questions. Accountability includes opening one's life to a few carefully selected, trusted, loyal confidants who speak the truth—who have the right to examine, to question, to appraise, and to give counsel. 

People who are accountable usually have four qualities: 

Vulnerability—capable of being wounded, shown to be wrong, even admitting it before being confronted. 

Scheifele exits early as Jets take Game 5 against Blues

'Very, very odd': Funnel cloud surprises Kleefeld family on calm spring day

A funnel cloud was spotted over Kleefeld late Wednesday afternoon, surprising residents who weren’t expecting any severe weather.

Lorissa Spence and her children noticed the formation around 5:30 p.m. while at their home on the north side of Kleefeld. Spence, who describes her family as avid storm watchers, said her daughter was the first to spot something strange in the sky.

“We looked out the window and—yeah—it was very, very odd,” Spence said. “I zoomed in with my phone and sure enough, it was rotating.”

Longest Ballot group declares victory in Poilievre's former riding amid criticism

A group trying to make a case for electoral reform by creating very long ballots is declaring victory in this week's election — even as critics accuse it of indulging in stunts that undermine democracy.

"It's been a success," said Mark Moutter, one of dozens of protest candidates who ran in the Ottawa riding of Carleton.

"I've never seen people looking more optimistically at electoral reform, ever."

Winnipeg city councillor Jason Schreyer dies

Winnipeg city councillor Jason Schreyer has died, the City of Winnipeg announced in a statement Wednesday morning.

Schreyer had served as the councillor for Elmwood–East Kildonan since 2014, winning three elections. He was known as a passionate advocate for his community the City said in the statement.

“He was a strong and independent voice in the Council chamber, always focused on fighting for the residents of his community and keeping life affordable for Winnipeggers,” the statement reads.

Firefighters battle past sunset at Winkler's Quality Inn and Suites

A devastating fire has left hearts broken in the City of Winkler.

Fire erupted at the Quality Inn and Suites on Main Street on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Winkler Fire Department and other emergency services.

According to a statement from Schinkel Properties, which owns and operates the hotel, the fire was first reported on the roof. All hotel and restaurant guests, staff, and pets inside at the time were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

42-year-old Winnipeg man faces multiple charges including sexual assault and animal cruelty

A 42-year-old Winnipeg man is facing an extensive list of charges, including cruelty to animals and sexual assault.

The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit, which ensures offenders' compliance with court dates and provides enforcement for related offences, partnered with the Winnipeg Police Service's Tactical Support Team, K9 Unit, East District General Patrol and RCMP members earlier this month to arrest a man who had outstanding warrants. 

Winnipeg police ask for help finding 40-year-old man missing since January

Winnipeg police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a 40-year-old man who has been missing for four months.

Ian Klowak was last seen around Flora Avenue and McGregor Street on Jan. 1 at around 1 p.m.

He is described as 5'3" in height with a thin build, brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a green baseball cap, black jacket, jeans and black runners. 

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for Klowak's wellbeing. 

Heaven meets Hollywood: Worship breaks out backstage at American Idol

God showed up backstage during American Idol, leading to a moment of worship for the entire cast and crew. 

In a video posted on Instagram, contestants and crew can be seen singing "The Blessing," with almost everyone with their hands in the air. 

"Such a special moment backstage," said Riley, who made it to the top 24 before being eliminated. "God WILL get His glory."
